I believe in this quote with my whole heart! My art room is a safe place to both succeed AND fail in trying new ideas through creation and innovation. I believe Art helps children (adults too) learn themselves as a human, to create something that individually represents their mind and soul as a human being.
I believe that through Art, students can learn how to creatively express themselves, and problem solve.
I believe that through Art, students can learn what works for them, what doesn't, and what needs more practice.
I believe that Art is going to look different for each of my individual students, because they are each individual minds.
I believe in guiding the students in tools, techniques, history, and process all with ARTIST CHOICE!

We will be discovering and creating using a variety of materials and media in the artroom. Everything from 2-D to 3-D, Ancient to Modern, Near and Far...we will be expanding our minds and horizons to create unique works following the ARRC and TEKS.
Clothing for the artroom: Some days we can get pretty messy so PLEASE make sure you wear something that it's ok to get a little paint, chalk, clay, etc...on!
*I do not provide smocks as this is a major germ hazard! ewwww...600+ kids+35 smocks=pretty gross ;(
*I am totally fine if your child wants to bring a smock to and from the art room!
Murphy's Oil: This will get out just about any stain....
trust me 10+ years teaching art and playing sports it's cleaned it all!!!
Soak garment overnight in a layer of the Murphy's Oil. In the morning, rub fabric vigorously together and rinse with cold water...wash as normal. Repeat if necessary.
This stuff is amazing AND you can use it to clean any wood furniture/floors.

When will art come home?
Art will be sent home twice this year inside student created Portfolios.
Once after the Artomé Show.
Once before our Summer Break.
By holding onto art work, we can: display art work in our hallways & community, students can build and see their development of skills over time, and we can develop grades based on overall progress for each individual student.
I would LOVE to have some parent volunteers to hang art work in our halls, prep art work for shows, take pictures for the website, etc...If you would like to help, just zip me an email: [email protected]
